I’m not kidding. Invest in buying lots of underwear, so you only HAVE to do laundry once every 3 weeks. Buying lots of socks is also a good idea.

Here are some other crucial investments:

Febreeze (or something like it) - Febreeze will make your clothes and room smell better, and it will also mask the smell of whatever you were doing last night that you shouldn’t have been.

Granola Bars- Keep something on hand that is filling and not exceptionally tasty. If it tastes great then you’ll eat it too soon, and the point here is to have an emergency reserve ready. There will be times when you NEED food and you can’t get it anywhere else. (Especially if you’re broke.)

Cute Sweatpants- Unless you’re a fashion diva, you’re going to often wind up in sweats. At least if you’re wearing cute sweats you won’t look like a total bum. (Like I do, in my sweatpants that I bought at the college bookstore)

Mace- If you find you often walk alone at night, mace isn’t a bad idea. There are some freaky creeps out there.

Water Filter- This is so important! You can’t just drink at meal times, that’s no way to stay hydrated. Yet bottled water is expensive and super heavy to carry in bulk. I was buying bottled for a year and half until I got a little pitcher filter for my room, and it is much more convenient. I’m also no longer swamped with empty water bottles.

Conversation Piece- Hopefully you’re going to leave your door open so you’ll have lots of visitors, in which case you’ll need something easy to talk about it. Personally, I have a Pleo (oh just google it). My best friend has a plexi-glass shelf, and everyone who walks into her room has to sign it. Another one of my friends has a gigantic retro-Batman lamp. Anything that gets people talking will do.

Obviously this isn’t a complete list, but most of the other things are common sense. You’ll do just fine
